Stranger Things season 4 was an absolute hit for the Duffer Brothers and Netflix. Half the season takes place in a Russian prison. Hopper, Joyce, and Murray, with the help of Russian prison guard Enzo, try to escape the gulag to get back to Hawkins.

Little did the Duffer brothers know as the Russian prison drama unfolded on the screen a real-life American in a Russian prison drama would be going on at the same time.

There is a big difference. Americans were desperately hoping Hopper and crew would escape the prison and make it back home. As the Brittany Griner situation plays out in a Russian courtroom, Americans could care less if the WNBA player ever gets released.

Of course, the social justice warriors in America want her released. They want Brittany brought home. The NBA and the WNBA want her brought home. Wednesday’s ESPY awards show was full of cries to bring her home.

Megan Rapinoe, Steph Curry, Nneka Ogwumike, and Skylar Diggins-Smith all got up on stage. They told us that we should all want her brought home. It isn’t the average person they were speaking to.

“She’s one of us, the team of athletes in this room tonight and all over the world. A team that has nothing to do with politics or global conflict,” Steph Curry said. Griner is one of us. She is better than you peasants who squabble for scraps at our feet. 

How come Griner was the only person mentioned during the ESPYs? Why wasn’t Marc Fogel, a teacher held in Russia for carrying medical marijuana talked about? Why did they not say his name? 

Why wasn’t former U.S. Marines Trevor Reed and Paul Whelan’s names said? After all, the more you say their names, the more they mean. Those three American prisoners mean nothing to the elite. They are merely ordinary citizens whose freedom doesn’t meet their political agenda. 

The NY Post reported Fogel’s name did not appear on a list of other Americans the Biden administration said it was working to free from prisons in Russia. Why not? Oh, he is merely a teacher who has taught in Moscow for almost a decade. 

Now, the Biden Administration is willing to make a deal for Griner to be released from the Russian jail and brought home. Viktor Bout was offered in exchange. A notorious weapons smuggler who no doubt has American blood on his hands. 

Tomi Lahren from Fox News was furious about the potential trade. 

Unconfirmed reports are saying the Russians turned the deal down. They want it to remain quiet. The Biden Administration’s unrelenting quest to look good in the eyes of their voting base had to leak the offer.

Griner was very outspoken about the National Anthem and protested the song. She refused to stand or even come out for the Anthem. Social Media’s consensus is that she sure doesn’t hate America now. She will. She always will because she is told to.

She will be exchanged. Probably for some high-value asset. She will thank the Biden administration and she’ll be put on a pedestal for everything she has suffered. Yet, Marc Fogel and others will remain in the Russian gulags because they won’t bring in big donor money or a lot of votes.
